Welcome to the Class Packing List page for Lucky Man Survival! Before embarking on your outdoor survival training, emergency preparedness workshops or clinics, it's essential to have the right gear. This page will provide you with a detailed list of items needed to ensure your safety and success during the class.
We at Lucky Man Survival are more than willing to help with finding items or suggesting places to look for gear. Contact us if you have any questions!
*ANYONE INTOXICATED IN ANY WAY OR NOT OF SOUND MIND WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS, WITHOUT A REFUND AND WILL BE BANNED FROM FUTURE ACTIVITIES!!!!!
OUTDOOR CLASSES
Some important things to consider are the following:
YOU MAY RENT THE REQUIRED PACKING LIST FOR AN EXTRA $25, but you still need to bring your own sleep system and food! reserve a pack with our email.
- Classes are 100% outdoors, so dress accordingly
- You will be required to build shelters and be outdoors extensively, so proper clothing and shoes are important, closed toed are REQUIRED
- OVERNIGHT EVENTS-You will be required to bring your own food 3 meals will occur during the event, lunch, dinner, and then breakfast.
- Classes start at 10 a.m on day one, and end at 10 am the next day. please be at the location by 9:30 a.m to check in and do a gear check!
- There will be water on site as well as with the instructors, but part of the experience is treating natural water, so expect to drink from natural water sources.
- All students will be required to sign a release of liability waiver underlining that they are aware of the risks involved in the classes and the activities they might perform.
- This class is not intended to be dangerous, only educational and fun. However, dangers can occur whether it is weather related, animal related, or personal negligence. The instructors are trained in dealing with animals, medical emergencies and are equipped to handle any harsh weather conditions. Negligence however, is one's personal responsibility. If you do not follow instructions when performing tasks or do something not permitted and you get injured we will help you, but you are responsible for any sustained injuries!
- Classes will not be cancelled for rain or snow
FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS
- MREs (meals ready to eat)
- Ramen noodles
- Canned foods like soup, Chef Boyardee, canned meals
- Snack bars or protein bars
- Any snacks that are easy to store and that won't melt
- Drink mix packets like lemonade, hot cocoa, or instant coffee
- Backpacker meals or freeze dried foods
Don't be afraid to get creative!!!!
Packing list for Outdoor Survival Classes
THESE ITEMS ARE ONLY REQUIRED FOR THE OVERNIGHT CLASSES! RENTALS ARE $25!
DAY CLASSES ONLY NEED TO BRING LUNCH! ALL OTHER GEAR IS PROVIDED!
Remember to dress for the weather as well as a jacket in case of harsh weather AND bring a form of I.D
YOU MAY RENT THE KIT OF REQUIRED ITEMS FOR $25 any broken items will be needed to be REPLACED. PACKS ARE LIMITED SO REQUEST EARLY.
THE ONLY THINGS THE PACK DOES NOT PROVIDE IS A SLEEPING SYSTEM OR FOOD! YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN!
- Backpack
- FOOD 3 meals in total
- 1 ferrocerium rod ( a large one is recommended)
- Tarp - survival tarps are recommended,THIS WILL BE YOUR SHELTER!
- 100 ft of paracord (orange)
- 1 stainless steel non insulated water bottle (or military canteen with metal nesting cup) or a water bottle you are ok with using chemical treatments in. fill up the bottle prior to class!
- Full tang knife 4 inches or bigger (high carbon recommended)
- Compass - must have adjustable dial and mirror (button compasses/ non adjustable compasses not accepted)
- Headlamp
- you are allowed a SMALL single person tent-but cannot be large! (hammocks are also welcome!)
- Sleep systems such as wool blankets, sleeping bag, some form of ground cover.
NO AIR MATTRESSES! But inflatable pads or sleep mats are OK
Recommended Items for Outdoor Classes
You don’t need these items but they will make the experience much better.
- Rain poncho
- 1 roll of duct tape. 1-inch rolls are recommended but a normal roll will do (cargo, gorilla, duct)
- Folding hand saw
- 1 roll of bank line cordage (must be thinner than your paracord)
- Toiletries
- Work gloves
- Medical kits
- Firearms are allowed; however, we would like to be informed beforehand.
- You may bring cigarettes, vapes, pouches etc. However, we ask only to use them while on breaks or end of the day
BUSHCRAFT 101 PACKING LIST
- FULL TANG KNIFE 4 INCH OR BIGGER
- FOLDABLE HANDSAW
- WOOL BLANKET QUEEN SIZED
- COMPASS WITH MOVABLE BEZEL RING
- 100ft 550 paracord
- 1 ferrocerium Rod
- Bag of cotton balls
- 1 jar of petroleum jelly
- Tarred Bankline cordage #12-#36 1/4 lb
- 1 3x3 meter tarp with reflective mylar inside
- Backpack for gear
- Work gloves
- Multitool or swiss army knife (with saw)
- 1 stainless steel non insulated water bottle 24-32 oz or military canteen with nesting cup
- 3 meals
- Sleep system (sleeping bag or bivy sack)
FRIENDLY REMINDER
- All items listed in the required portion are needed for this class, if you do not have the required equipment you cannot participate!
- If you take any medications or have medical needed items such as insulin, inhalers, epinephrine pens ETC. Please bring them as well and inform our staff!
- we will have access to our vehicles at the end of the night. checking in with family can be done during breaks.
- if you do not have good enough health to sleep on the ground, walk at least a quarter mile, or carry a bag that weighs roughly 25 pounds, this event may not be right for you - we do however host classroom setting events to learn a lot of these and other skills as well!
Workshops and Clinics
For workshops you don't need anything! We provide anything the class needs! You are welcome to bring "bug out bags" or "go bags" to do some consulting or to compare with other classmates!
- We recommend a pen and paper for any notes
- Write down questions you might want answered with you
- At the end of the workshop we will have open discussion for questions, comments or ideas!
